Lee Ho Fook, Melbourne Australia - Techne Architecture + Interior Design

"Hidden down Melbourne’s laneway, Duckboard Place, Chinese restaurant Lee Ho Fook focuses on old world food done in a new way. The existing character of the 2 storey 200m² brick warehouse dating back to the 1900′s has been retained and  contrasted with contemporary, minimal objects inserted into the space. Brass detailing on joinery and lighting is a nod to the significance of gold in Chinese culture. Cantilevered steel and American oak banquette seats define the main downstairs dining area and create a sense of lightness to the small space. Timber and glass partitions have been used to zone this challenging tight space, separating diners from the entrance and subtly conjuring visions of traditional Chinese room dividers." - techne
